 Yael Naim releases her second album and is taking over the world with her unique sound and beautiful voice.
For all of you who don't remember who Yael Naim is, but recognize her name from somewhere, we will help to refresh your memory. The popular singer Din Din Aviv released a single from her successful album My Secrets, which was a duet with Yael Naim called Meanings. In case this doesn't ring a bell, check out the crazy video they made for the single:Now it's Yael's turn to not only take over Israel, Europe but even the United States! On October 2007 Yael released her self-titled second album on which she worked for two years with the percussionist David Donatien. The album contains 13 songs which are sung in Hebrew, English and French. One of the singles is even a cover of the single Toxic from Britney Spears. Howcome the sudden hype around Yael Naim? We will tell you what happened. On January 2008 Apple used the single New Soul from Yael's second album for their debut commercial to promote their MacBook Air notebook. The song was added to iTunes for digital sale and because the single was bought and downloaded so many times, the single entered the Billboard Top 100 on the #9 spot! This has made Yael Naim the first Israeli singer to be in the top 10 of the Billboard Charts. Do you want to get to know Yael Naim a bit better? Here is some background information on her. Yael Naim was born 29 years ago in Paris, France. Her parents are from Tunisian, Sephardic Jewish, origin and decided to move to Ramat HaSharon, a small place near Tel Aviv, when Yael was only 4 years old. There her fascination with and love for music grew. The first instrument that caught her attention and which she started to play was the organ. After this she learned classic piano for 10 years and went to the conservatory. Yael served in the Israel Defense Force as a soloist and in the Israel Air Force orchestra. Eventually Yael's interest in music moved from classic to music from The Beatles, Aretha Franklin and Joni Mitchell. She started her own band and in 2004 she met David Donatien with whom she worked for two years on her second album. Except for the cover of Britney, Yael has written all the songlyrics herself and then recorded the songs in her own studio in Paris, France. Because of the success of the single New Soul, the album has been released on the 18th of March in the United States. The iTunes store has even added another single from Yael, called Far Far, for free download, so go get it now!
