Israel is already busy with the Eurovision Song Contest of 2007 that will be held in the city Helsinki in Finland. Usually a preselection contest is held in Israel where artists compete for the winning trip to Helsinki to represent Israel. This year the First Channel of Israel that is in charge of the Eurovision Song Contest, doesn’t have the funds for a preselection contest.

In order to choose the artist and the song that will represent Israel, they want to make a committee of music experts. The committee will first choose a singer. The selected singer will get the task to present the committee a selection of songs from which the committee will choose the song that will represent Israel in Helsinki.

So far several artist names have been mentioned that the committee takes under consideration. The most popular one is the young singer Harel Skaat. But there are more artists the committee wants to see, like popular female artists Maya Buskilla, Ninet Tayeb, Keren Peles and Roni ‘Superstar’ Duani.

This year Israel will, for the first time, have the difficult task to participate in the semi final of the Eurovision Song Contest. Because Eddie Butler, who represented Israel last year in Greece, didn’t do well and ended up at the 23place.
