It seemed like only silence remained after Shiri's debutalbum in 2005. Now the star is back and ready to take off on an international level, with the release of not one but two albums!
Lots of silence, maybe to much of it has remained from Shiri Maimon's songs in the last year. She stayed away from all the soap operas, from the media, from the gossip columns, Shiri even stayed away from the yearly Festigal, the children's songs contest and show. Even the radio stations aren’t playing her music much lately, so those that want big doses of Shiri had to go to the theatre and watch her perform in the show The Band at HaBima, and occasionally she appeared at all kinds of Eurovision fan parties. Shiri's foot steps have vanished from the Israeli studios to those in England, London, as she is working currently and finalizing her double album which will come out in few short months. As we know, one of the albums will be in Hebrew and the second will be completely in English and will be focused at the International market. The albums will also include songs she has written and composed herself. A new strong life sign from Shiri as she is going to lead a live show on the 28th of June, where she will perform live in the Marina of Hertzelya at a special show alongside 65 musical players from the Jerusalem Symphonic Orchestra. In this special show she will sing songs of Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley and some of her own new and old songs.
Amos Talmon the conductor of this special feature, whom chose Shiri Maymon for this venue says: "We were looking for an excellent singer who's also a great performer on stage. Shiri doesn’t just have an incredible voice but also has a charisma that swipes everyone with her. She's a fresh wind compared to the singers you hear nowadays on the radio and TV stations. She's also a magnet for the younger audience, that’s why she was chosen for this unique concert". Shiri says: "I was totally surprised, in many ways I still feel like a beginner, like a new singer, it's really an honour and privilege that I was chosen to lead such a challenging show, I hope to enjoy it" Q: You're not afraid to be swallowed musically next to such a huge band? A: It doesn’t cross my mind, especially cause its going to be just amazing. The way I see it, it will take me to the most exciting place I've even been musically, it’s a dream. I have never performed in a concept like this. There will be 15 songs that I will sing live, which means a very long evening for me. I hope to lead the show to the best possible place. Q: Can you relate to the music of Elvis and Sinatra? A: I grew up on their music as my parents use to play them often, but its not music I use to play or listened to by myself. I never thought that I would sing their songs, but once the offer had come, I started listening a lot to their music and I understood I have lot to learn. I started listening and working on the songs with my voice developing teacher Rachel Hochman, and once I started singing these songs with her instructions I was saying to myself: wow! These classics are so amazing, no one writes or composes songs like these nowadays anymore, and with the orchestra its just going to be spectacular. Also Shiri heard about her disappearance from the media, and she says about that: "I did it intentionally and all with awareness. Its good to disappear for a while, rest a bit, especially after all the exciting things I've done and the new things I've been through. Currently I’m working on 2 new albums for a while now as you know, they will be released in the coming months. When your not on TV or in news papers, everyone thinks you’ve disappeared that you're finished, its kind of a graph and now I’m down but ready for take off. Don’t forget that the show The Band is still performing with me in it, and that’s an experience too. When I’m doing something, I’m not afraid of the things to come and from people saying that I have disappeared. Q: You know you can always go to a party, or event, get your picture taken. A: That’s not me, I really try not to go to places like these, unless its something that really interests me. I have my quietness and that’s much more important, I can also summarize this past year as a year where I grew up mentally and professionally. I also enjoy singing things I have written and composed, to say it shortly, Tfu, Tfu, Tfu, right now everything is good. Q: You broke up with your boyfriend after a long period. A: Of course I’m not going to enter any kind of details as it's not easy, but right now I am happy, really, to come out from 3 years of relationship and suddenly discover yourself is in a way also fun. I can also say that many good songs came out from it, I wrote about my breaking up and about being alone during the entire period. The album that will come out soon will be very personal, and I think that people will understand me and get to know me better through it. Q: All the Eurovision fans missed you at the last song contest. A: I’m really happy and pleased to hear it, The Eurovision contest was one of the most breathtaking experiences I had in my life, and I just wish I could do it again! Q: Other artists were afraid to go and participate, singers like Ninet, Harel Skaat, Miri Mesika. A: I think that like everything in life sometimes you have to take few risks, there are those that really will lose something if they will do something wrong at the contest. Its also a matter of professional considerations and your own intuition, for me it came from my intuition, from my inside and only good came out from it for me. Q: Do you watch the new season of A Star Is Born? A: I watched it several times, I don’t like the auditions to much and I prefer to see the singers singing, less gimmicks and jokes and more music is what I prefer. To be honest I don’t know which songs are remaining for the participants to sing. During the years so many songs have already been performed, I’m also not an expert to give any kind of advice. I also have a feeling that the participants nowadays know much more than I knew when I participated. I was young and I didn’t know to much about what I was doing, I just followed my heart. The people in the show today seem to be really professionals.
