After the well published crisis she had with her agent  Roberto and a long absence from the stages, Maya Buskila is preparing herself for a tour of concerts in the United States.

Maya Buskila is facing the most important year in her career, her test year. Only recently, the well published conflict she had with her agent Roberto Ben Shusan, ended. Now that she signed with the major label Hed Artzi, who bought her contract from Roberto, she is starting to work on her third album. The past Singer of the Year is also going on her first tour of concerts in the United States, after an absence of more than 6 months from the stages.

Her concert tour will start on the 10th of February in the United States and Canada and it will pass through major cities like New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Toronto and more. The concerts will be held in halls that can contain 1000 to 2000 seats. For the support act of her concerts, Maya will have her friend Adi Askenazi perform.

Rony Shwartz is the producer that’s involved in Maya’s comeback tour. He is the person that actually discovered her before Roberto. Maya says: ”It’s like I’m closing a circle here, cause Rony was my first light. He was the one that discovered me in a club in Eilat.

This tour is very important to Maya, not only because she disappeared from the stages for more than 6 months after the big dispute with Roberto, but for another reason; this is the first time she is going on a tour of concerts where the ticket boxes will be opened. In the past most of her concert tickets were sold in advance, ordered or she would perform at weddings, bar mitzvahs. So now Maya is confronted with her real test.

Q: The concert tour will be the first time, you will be opening ticket boxes. How do you feel about that?

A: You are right, this is the first time and therefor I’m very excited and afraid, because I have never done it before, and not in foreign countries. I had the fear that my tickets might not sell, but I’m happy to say that many people are interested and there is lots of demand for the tickets. The tickets are just flying away from the boxes, and this open ticket box concert tour is really a dream come true. I will be performing in big places, but I have to say that I also dream of performing in smaller and more intimate places, like the club Zappa in Tel-Aviv where the audience sits really close to you.

Q: Last year you said that you were portrayed in a cheap way by the gossip being spread by tabloids, and that people don’t know the real Maya Buskila. Which Maya Buskila will we meet this time?

A: People will meet the same Maya, but a Maya without barriers and walls. I’m changing. I’m not going to perform a hundred times in a month anymore. In the past I was shown in the media everywhere and all of the time, and it was written about me that I’m an actor slash model slash singer, so people forgot a bit that I have a voice and that I’m a singer. Now if I will be offered to act in a soap like HaShir Shelanu (Our song), I will say no. Right now I’m going to focus only on my music. The change at the concerts themselves will be that I’m going to make the audience more involved in it, talk more to the audience, tell them about my feelings. In the past I laughed and cried much less with the audience. I have 5 musical instrument players at my shows, so the new concerts will be live. There will be less computers and playback.

Q: Are you going to give up on the song The Heart, a song you were forced to sing but didn’t really represent your inner voice?

A: The Heart was actually an important part of my career. It was the beginning of my biggest success. Do you think I will remove a song like that? This is a song that will stay forever, but there is a chance that it will get a different tone and sound at the concerts.

Q: What can we expect on your next album?

A: A Maya that’s more mature and understanding. I will feel and respect the lyrics much more than in the past. The album will also include many things I have gone through in this last crisis I had. Vered Klepter will also be involved in the album, even Yehuda Poliker has written for me a wonderful song. He is such an incredible and charming person, he helped me out during the time of my crisis and supported me all the way. He also guided me and pointed me through many things. The album will also contain a song that I wrote myself.

Q: Will you save a seat in the first row for Roberto?
