Support Sderot Concert
Sunday, 09 September 2007

Daily the people of Sderot live under threat of the Qassam rockets that are being fired by the Hamas. Sderot is a settlement surrounding Gaza. With their homes and lifes in Sderot, they live in constant fear. It was time to show that everyone in Israel supports the population of Sderot and feel their fear and pain. Kobi Oz, the lead singer of the band Teapacks and also coming from Sderot, organized on the 9th of July 2007 a solidarity concert called "We Are Sderot". An audience of 30.000 people came together, bringing banners and signs with texts to show their support. Red t-shirts with support text on it were handed out, causing the audience to turn into a red sea.

The goal of the concert was serious and special enough for the most famous Israeli artists and bands to come and perform. The line up of artists included Teapacks, Amir Banayoun, Rami Kleinstein, Harel Skaat, Danny Sanderson, Haim Uliel (resident from Sderot) and Hemi Rudner. A special performance was given by Shlomo Artzi, an artist that usually doesnt participate in these kinds of concerts. This time also Shlomo Artzi gave a great performance to show his solidarity.

At the end of the evening the police estimated that an audience of 50.000 people had come together. The best artists came to perform and made noise for the residents of Sderot. Between the performances the mayor of Sderot took a moment to speak supporting words.
