Biography

Eric Berman was born on the 11th of September 1979 and grew up in Tel-Aviv. As a kid Eric wasn’t attracted to music and didn’t want to be a singer. At the age of 16 he decided to learn to play the guitar, and discovered the world of music to which he from then on became attracted to.

His parents didn’t approve of their sons new future prospects, and preferred him to study and go to university. Against the wishes of his parents, Eric decided after his military service to focus on music as his profession and career. Later on he went to study in the school of Jazz Rimon. The first year he studied there full time, but from the second year he only took a few courses that interested him. In this school he also got to know Aiya Corem, Keren Peles, Miri Mesika and others.

Eric knew that his best skill in the music was writing and not composing or singing, but decided to go ahead with his musical career anyway. At first he wrote songs for other artists,  among them famous artists like Efrat Gush and Aiya Corem. After receiving many compliments from the artists he wrote for, he decided to start working on an album of his own.

His debut album called Eric Berman - I  was released on the 1st of January 2007, and contains 13 songs. The first single from the album came out in late summer 2006 and was named What More Did You Ask For? The single had lots of success in the Israeli music charts.

The second single that followed was The Last Sweethearts, which was also played a lot on the radio and music TV channel. These singles gave him recognition as a talented lyrics writer and singer. His record label NMC liked the success of the first two singles and decided to release a third single from this album which is named A Wonderful New Day, which came out in December 2006.

The album’s debut concert was performed in the Tel-Aviv club Goldstar Zappa, and was a sold out concert. Eric is currently performing all over the country and promoting his debut album. At his concerts, people are aware of his special skills in talking, telling unique stories and giving special introductions to his songs before performing each of them.

He also says that all his songs are about things that he goes through and went through in his life, daily common things, some happy some sad, but mostly things that define his feelings.

Eric says about himself that he is completely devoted to music and he hopes to have a long and lasting career in this field. That’s also one of the reasons he named his album Eric Berman I, cause he wants and believes that it will be followed by more albums.
On the other hand Eric says, he can imagine himself doing other things if his musical career as a singer wont work out the way he wants it to, maybe in the writing field maybe even in the music field.

Eric Berman is influenced by the music of Bob Dylan, Nick Cave and Leonard Cohen.
