Biography
In 2003 when Roni was 17 she started working on her debut album and released the single that made her an instant star. The song was a cover of the song Superstar, that was originally performed by the British singer Jamelia. The song entered number 1 position in all of Israel’s important music charts and it was played non-stop on the radio and TV stations. Roni also performed in sexy outfits which attracted many young male fans. The album that followed this single was released in 2004 and named The World Outside My Door. The album came out when she was just 18 years old and became a Gold Album. It strengthened Roni’s position as one of the most young and successful singers in Israel. She became a children’s idol and because of her sexy looks and outfits also a famous model. For the famous bathing suits and bikini company Banana, Roni is already for 3 years the house model.
Another popular song from her debut album was the song called Secret. Again a cover version to the song of the singer Adam, which was a number 1 hit in Israel in 1987. The song also brought up controversy, as the song was full with big advertisement displays of commercial companies in Israel, like ice cream, burger companies and a popular beer brand. For every time the clip is played, the board of censorship advised that a sign should appear as a reminder of the high levels of commercial context in the clip.
The first part that came out in 2005 had 6 songs. The singles Mister and Motek II had some success in local charts and TV stations. In the following year, 2006, Roni released the second part of the same album, which was of course also named Won't Stop II. This album included 7 songs which were a bit more mature according to the record company Helicon, which was also the reason for splitting the album into 2 sections. Both albums have songs that were composed by the musician Henree and the musical producer Yoad Nevo. This album has also reached a gold status recently.
Early 2006, Roni attacked Ninet in an interview and said that after winning Kochav Nolad, Ninet hasn’t done much to build a musical career. “Wining a music show on TV isn’t the right way to become an appreciated singer and it’s a shame that since Ninet won the competition she is busy with everything beside music itself” says Roni. This interview caused lots of controversy and all the responses appeared in the news papers of Israel for a while and in their gossip columns.
Roni says about herself that she has lots of plans in the music and acting field for the future. She has confidence that she will achieve the goals she has put to herself, even having international success. These last 3 years have been very exciting for her and she says she has evolved a lot during these years. She also says she loves all the attention she is receiving from her fans and loves meeting them. The compliment she loves the most to hear is that in real she looks even more beautiful and amazing than in her pictures.
When Roni was a kid she loved the Israeli children band Hopa Hey and later as a teenager she she loved the Backstreet Boys. The song she would really like to cover, if she gets the chance, is Crazy by Britney Spears. One day, she hopes to win A Grammy award, but currently she is going to focuse on her appearance in the Khanuka musical show called The Magician.
