Biography Rona Keinan was born on the 26th of July 1979, and she is the daughter of the famous author Amos Keinan. Since Rona Keinan was very young she was attracted to the music world as she learned to play musical instruments, especially the guitar and also compose and write lyrics. She was considered a young bright and promising talent, because at that time she was only in her teen years. In 1997 she participated in the song festival Next, it was organized by Eran Zur the famous singer and composer.She recomposed and made her own versions of songs of the famous lyric and music writer Jonah Volach. Since then Rona Keinan has participated in various projects that involved many popular artists, she sang, played guitars and composed for singers like Tal Godron, Dana Berger, Asi Levi, Eran Zur and many more. In 1999 her cooperation with Dana Berger extended beyond the usual playing instruments and background singing. A show she had with Tal Gordon was so successful that they decided to make it a tour and a permanent show and even take out an album together. The album was named I Didn’t Want It To End- Tal Gordon Hosting Rona Keinan. On this album Tal sang her own hits in unique acoustic versions that were made by both of them and also Korin Elal the famous singer. The album also had 4 new songs that were written by Gordon and composed by both of them. The show of the album was very successful and went on till late 2000. In the following year, 2001, Rona created her own show and started performing in various clubs. She had a show that was made out of two instrument players beside her and she started singing and promoting 4 songs that she took out as a single CD. Rona sang mostly in English which became her trademark as a singer in Israel for the following years. In 2002 Rona continued collecting material for her debut album, she also started working hard with Izhar Ashdot, the famous artist and music producer. She released 3 songs from her debut album in 2003, from which the names were Transparent Love, To Live Correct and Flood. The songs had moderate success and she started being recognized more and more as an artist. In 2004 her debut album came out, it was titled Breathing Down To Zero. The album included songs she had been working on for several years. She continued performing with songs from her debut album all around the country and started to get more recognized and having fans from all over. Rona kept on working hard and collecting material for her following album, from which she released the first single in 2006, which was named Through Foreign Eyes. At the beginning of 2007 her second single from the album came out and was named The Last Time. Both singles had lots of success in the Israeli music charts and were played frequently on the Israeli music TV channel and on the radio channels. The singles were followed by her 2nd album which was also named Through Foreign Eyes, just like her first single from the album. The album is successful in the local charts and making Rona a major factor in the Israeli music industry. The success of the album finally transformed Rona from the position of a promising talent to the position of a singer that made it and an accomplished artist. Rona has plans to make another album in Hebrew and later on make an album with songs in English. Rona says about herself that people that don’t know her think that she is smart and intellectual when actually she isn’t. She likes to spend many of her evenings at the same pub/club in Tel-Aviv and she has a steady girlfriend/partner for a while now and is considered as an icon in the gay/lesbian community in Israel. She is also addicted to horror movies. |
