| Shai Gabso |
Biography Shai Gabso was born on the 20th of July 1984 in Rishon Le Zion and still lives there. As a young kid Shai loved singing, but wasn't sure if he would want to become a professional singer as an adult. He participated at several singing contests as a kid. At the age of 12 he also turned religious on his own and still keeps on doing many Jewish rituals till today.During Shai’s military service, at a holiday from his unit, he saw an advertisement of the show A Star Is Born. Young Shai wrote down the number, phoned, registered and forgot all about it. Suddenly he was invited for auditions for the show. As he was passing the early stages Shai was rather surprised cause he was busy with his life, family, military service and didn’t think about the possibility that it would go so good for him and that he would enter the TV series contest itself.
The album was written and composed almost entirely by Shai and it came out in May 2004 and was produced by Moshe Deabul. The album was called I Shall Keep My Head Up. The album had lots of success in continuance of his first single. In the Hebrew year charts of 2004 (in September) he was chosen as The Singer Of The Year of Gali Tzahal and The Young New Talent/Discovery Of The Year of the Channel Reshet Gimel, both are the leading music radio channels in Israel. Furthermore his song called A Day And Another Two Days was chosen as The Song Of The Year in both the radio stations.
In December of the same year 2004, Shai won the children’s/adults song festival with the song Someone Big.
Shai’s favorite singers in Israel are Boaz Sharabi, Shlomi Shabat, Rami Kleinstein, Arkadi Duchin, and also in the show A Star Is Born he sang songs from some of these singers whom he admires so much. Shai says about himself that he isn’t a naïve and innocent guy that some think he is when they look at him or speak to him. He also hopes his new album will have atleast the success of the previous album.
