Eyal Golan

Biography

Eyal Golan his real name is Eyal Biton and was born on the 12th of April 1971 in Rehovot. He grew up in the neighbourhood of Marmorek in Rehovot to mother Ronit and father Daniel. After a crisis in the family, the divorce of his parents, Eyal moved into his grandparents' house. He spent his adolescence visiting one nightclub after another. It was his way to get to know oriental music well.

Eyal admired Zohar Argov and he still admires him. Eyal thinks that Zohar will always be the "King" of oriental music. When Eyal was about 16 years old, he started to perform in the nightclubs where he used to hang out. He became a mini-super star in those clubs.

In 1991, he appeared for the first time on television. There was a memorial service for Zohar Argov. As a result of this show, the public began to like Eyal. Two years later, he put out his first album, called Whisper In The Night. Three years later, in 1996, he put out another album, called Live Performance. This album includes a few songs by Israeli singers, like Rami Keinstein and Shlomo Artzi. These two albums were not successful.

But a year later, when he put out his third album called Without You, it was well received in this country. Ze'ev Nehama and Tamir Kalinsi, members of the Ethnix band, wrote and composed most of the songs on this album. Over 120,000 copies of this album were sold. Eyal's album went platinum.

Ishai Ben Zur was the manager/producer that helped Eyal to become famous and is also responsible for many of his successful albums. Ben Zur has been working as his manager till last year. Because of a money dispute they are currently not working together anymore.

The first song Eyal ever recorded is called Dunia and is very important to him. It was the first time he felled free, liberated, and to be able to do what he really wants and likes to do. The song wasn’t a success, but it was a very exciting moment in his life and he was proud of something that was the first and his.

Eyal has released many albums, from which his last album called I Was Made For You was released in 2007. The album contains many hit singles like If There Is A Heaven, Don't Walk Out On Me and I Was Made For You.

Eyal is married to Ilanit Levi, who was the beauty pageant Queen of Israel in 2001. Together they have a son called Liam.

Besides being a great singer, Eyal Golan also spends his time being a soccer player for the club Hapoel Marmorek. It was also this club that financially supported Eyal with his first albums. His love for soccer is as big as for making music. His own favourite soccer club of Israel is Beitar Jerusalem.
