| Momy Levy |
Biography Momy Levy grew up in the city Rehovot. He comes from a very famous musical and artistic family. His aunts are the famous singer Gali Atari and the famous radio broadcaster Sosh Atari.When Momy was 8 years old he participated in the famous Israeli music festival. He reached the second place and later on went on and even sang at other children/adults festival concerts like the Shirovision and the Festigal. In other words he knew what he wanted at a very young age. In 1986 Momy joined the Israeli Defense Forces and was placed in the IDF Nachal Band. He was in the band with other famous artists like Yoav Tzafir, Sharon Haziz, Ahinoam Nini, Dana Berger and more. After his military service some of the famous military band members opened a band with him called Tzila and they use to perform and sing mostly the same repertoire of songs they sang in the military. In 1992 Tovia Tzafir the famous actor (father of Yoav Tzafir who was in the army with him) asked talented Levy to join him and from that year till 1995 he performed in various theater and musical shows with Tovia Tzafir, some even became top hit shows in Israel. In 1995 as the black music was emerging and becoming more and more popular Levy fell in love with this music genre and started presenting a radio program dedicated to black music. During this year he got closer to the musician Gal Asher and together they produced an album for the band Nona which included Gal Asher and Noa Tishbi the famous Israeli actor. After the band was dissolved Levy and Asher collaborated and made an experimental Rhythm And Blues album in Holland, but his attraction to the black music made him focus more of his energy and improve his abilities in this genre. |
