Biography
They didn’t do their army service together. Itai joined a military band and expanded his musical skills, while Amir was in the Nachal Unit. Both continued their affair with music and wrote many songs during their military service, songs that later appeared on their debut album. After their military service they went to their friends house Alon and Neta in Hertzeliya and played in front of them some of the songs they had written. Alon, their friend, liked the songs a lot and was looking to invest in a business, so he told them that should record these songs. When Amir And Itai returned from their trip to south America they found out that their music had become popular and eventually they were asked by the famous club Camelot to come and perform. It was the year 2002, and they decided to perform under their own names: Amir & Itai. They needed also musical instrument players to be able to perform and they phoned Ziv Lavi, whom they met in South America and use to play the keyboard, and searched for more band members. Much later they changed their names to Beit HaBubot (The Dolls House). To their big surprise all the tickets for the show at the club Camelot were sold. After that there was lots of demand, so they had to make 7 more shows which were also sold out. With so much demand they decided to perform in the bigger and famous Barby club in Tel-Aviv, and that show too was sold out. At that same evening they met the musical producer Shaul Mizrakhi that offered them to sign with him and produce and album. In early 2005 their debut album came out, it was named Madafim (Shelfes). It’s a rock album with ethnical touches and it has reached a gold status selling over 20,000 albums so far. The most popular single from it was called Sigapo and it did very well on the charts and was played a lot on the radio stations. The songs name is made out of 2 words, Siga is the name of their female friend Sigal that went for a vacation in India, and Po which means Here in Hebrew. The song was meant to say Sigal Is Here or Has Returned. Itai And Amit say that the bands name was chosen from one of the songs in their debut CD with the same name. The song says that eventually everyone meets in this world which is like a house of dolls for GOD (he being big and us small compared to him, just like a child is big compared to a doll house). Amir says he likes the name a lot but also if the band would be named The Rumors it would be a correct name, cause the band was established because of their CD’s being passed from one to another in Israel and South America till they were asked to come and perform and became one of the most popular bands in Israel.
