Starting of with the first track called The One Instead Of Me Keren let’s everyone know right away how beautiful her voice is. A great start where her voice sounds as beautiful as her Music. The same goes for her hit single If This Is Life which is a bit more rough because she uses all her energy to sing which is sometimes a bit loud, but gives you goosebumps together with the instruments in the back.
At the song We Shall Have A House Keren goes all the way and let’s everyone hear what her vocal skills are capable of. Many times with different songs on the album I was hoping for a louder vocal sound which she is surely capable of. This slow song is perfect in combination with the different notes and volumes of her voice.
Unfortunately at the song To Run To Run Keren takes the loud vocal skills a bit to serious and there it becomes to much. Beside that the Music is really annoying and the song ends up sounding like a children’s song.
Sometimes Keren transforms her voice from beautiful singing to a bit talking/shouting without any melody and not on the rhythm of her Music. Perhaps a good signature of her own style, but I personally find it a shame. It does give her Music something extra, so perhaps others can only appreciate and love it.m
It is not clear yet how well Keren Peles her debut album will do. Although she can be proud of the first album she has made for herself. I find her a special artist with clearly her own style. It is also clear to me that mostly with ballads Keren can release her talent, as with up tempo songs it doesn’t sound so special anymore. Also the hits she has written for other artists were all ballads. Perhaps in the future we can expect more from her up-tempo songs, for now I can’t get enough of her ballads.
