Harel Skaat is one of the new rising stars of Israel. This is his self titled debut album Harel Skaat. The album contains 10 tracks and has also a bonus CD including another 5 tracks. Not knowing what to expect from this album made it’s sound quite surprising. Harel Skaat has a beautiful clear voice, with the risk of turning a bit boring. But that was solved on this album in a very nice way. Each song has a new and different sound or melody, which makes every track surprising. On the album a variety of genres has been used, for example dance music, with a slight pop sound, ballads and light rock music.

The album starts of with swinging dance music on the song All The Birds, just like the track The Wind . Although the songs all have their own kind of melody and beat to it. Just like the track Something From Me seems to have the music beats of the pop genre.

If we continue to look at the variety of Harel Skaat’s album, we can even notice sounds of Spanish music and also quite some ballads are present. Some of the ballads are combined with guitar or light rock sounds. But another kind of ballad is like Different Days that is a soft ballad combined with violins and a slow soft beat, but soon other tracks with a bit more rough rock will follow.

Harel Skaat doesn’t have a very special voice and he won’t surprise you to much with his vocal skills. The different genres that this album provides does make it fun to listen to and won’t make it boring at all. For the people who like the romantic love ballads, which will quickly switch in to rock or dance tracks will enjoy this album a lot.

As a debut album Harel Skaat can be proud of his work. It’s not without reason that the shop Tower Records has his album on the number 1 spot of most popular albums in Israel. He is a promising star for the future and we should keep an eye on him.
